Water Sourcing
In this stage, pumps are used to draw water from various sources such as rivers, lakes, wells, or reservoirs. Submersible pumps are typically used for groundwater extraction, while centrifugal pumps are commonly employed for surface water.
Water Treatment
As discussed in the previous question, water treatment involves several stages (coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection), many of which involve rotating equipment like mixers, pumps, blowers, and rotating drum filters.
Water Storage
Once treated, water is often stored in large tanks or reservoirs. Pumps are used to move the water into these storage structures, and may also be used to circulate the water within them to prevent stagnation.
Water Distribution
Water is distributed to consumers through a vast network of pipes. This requires the use of pumps to maintain pressure in the system and to push the water to all areas of the distribution network, including areas at higher elevations. Booster pump stations with centrifugal pumps are often employed for this purpose.

Waste Disposal
After water is used, it's transported to wastewater treatment facilities. This involves the use of pumps to move the wastewater, often against gravity.

In larger buildings, booster pumps may be used to ensure that water can reach all parts of the building, while sump pumps can be used to remove any water that collects in low-lying areas.
Maintenance & Cleaning
